Providing Modern Sanitation, Safe Drinking Water and Housing is a systemic requirement in Bangladesh. Lack of modern latrines coupled with natural ground water contamination from arsenic, iron and salinity is a major health and environmental concern across Bangladesh. Safe Drinking Water, Sanitation and Hygienic Toilets in houses in semi urban and rural/remote areas of the country is a prerequisite for sustainable development in the country. Few impact reports on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene indicates that every Taka invested in this field benefits upto an average of Four Takas due to its impact in various sectors. Improving and providing basic needs of sanitation, good quality water and sustainable housing is one of the SDG Goals.
While Bangladesh has made significant progress in most of the human indexes over the last few decades, and is ahead of its south Asian neighbors, significant interventions is required to make deeper impact particularly in the under served and hard to reach geographical areas. The journey is long and we need to walk many more miles to achieve our objective. We plan to work with other Government and non government organizations internationally and within Bangladesh to alleviate and improve Sanitation, Safe Water and Housing sector.
