During August – September 2024, devastating flood happened in Bangladesh when India released water without any notice to Bangladesh. This resulted in severe flood in many parts of Bangladesh.
Founders of BRIC Foundation got the opportunity to work in Feni District with the help of the local volunteers. A temporary Flood relief camp was opened in Rahmania Mohammedia Darul Ulum Madrashah building in Sekanderpur, Dagon Bhuiyan of Feni district. Flood affected people took shelter in the madrashah building.
This building accommodated 300 flood affected people, mostly ladies and children, as their houses were under water for almost 10 days. The founders with the help of local volunteer Jahangir and his friends supported the camp from 28th August to 5th September. Inmates were provided with full meal thrice (breakfast, lunch and dinner) daily.
In addition to helping the inmates, food help was provided to remote areas where people could not move to the shelter for the safety of their household assets. On an average, 100 families were supplied with food daily through boat and tractors. Also, medicine was supplied to the population of the area.
